Having selected my shortest focal point (16 mm on 1.5 crop factor camera) I took this picture from a low point and focused on the horses nose. This wide angle lens has created extreme artistic distortion between the horse’s head , the body and the field behind. In fact the artistic distortion has created such extreme perspective it completely hides the neck of the horse. This gives the great comical effect of a large head sitting on a rather small body. It certainly exaggerates the relationship between near and far in that the nostrils which are quite small compared to the horse’s size now become so large by comparison. You could be forgiven by thinking someone has put a Shire Horse’s head on the body of a New Forest Pony’s.
